Venezia

Venice, the capital of the Veneto region, lies on more than 100 small islands within a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. In this city there are no streets but canals, including the Grand Canal, lined with Renaissance and Gothic palaces. On the central square, St. Mark’s Square, stand St. Mark’s Basilica, embellished with Byzantine mosaics, and St. Mark’s bell tower, from which one can admire the red roofs of the city.
