Verona

Its historic centre, built on a bend in the Adige River, dates back to medieval times. Verona is known for being the city of Romeo and Juliet, the characters in Shakespeare’s play, and not surprisingly it houses a 16th century building called ‘Juliet’s house’, with a lovely balcony overlooking a courtyard. The Arena di Verona, a large Roman amphitheatre dating back to the first century, hosts concerts and operas.
